Don’t Network, Build Partnerships

Dear mommy,

I learned

Effective networking is not
- going to an event to get a business card
- going to an event to meet a new Facebook friend

People say they will KIT, most don’t.
Why?

We are just too busy will our own agenda, getting to POINT “A”

Instead, Effective networking is building partnerships.
Partnerships meaning, What Can We Do to Help Each Other Get to POINT “A”

Before diving into Entrepreneurship, I needed a mentor.
I cold called Lee’s Deli, a chain of restaurant in San Francisco downtown.

I asked for 30 minutes, Lee Quan (owner) and I spoke for more.
I became genuinely interested in his story to success.

I offered strategies on how he could grow his business.
I followed up by sending him a business book.

We met a few times a year.
I built trust with him, later he hired me to help open restaurant franchises and now helps promote Campusfork.

So Networking never works when ONE just TAKES! TAKES!

Instead, TWO people join together, Helping each other reach their GOALS.

At networking events, communicate what you offer to the table.

“Collin, let me know if you ever need me to take a look at your Press Release. Lets grab coffee next week. Meanwhile, I will introduce to you via email two vendors that may help you reduce your cost.”
